How claims are tracked

FactTracker prioritizes claims that are attributable, time-bound or event-based, and specific enough to verify against public evidence.

Status labels

• Pending: the claim can be checked later but has not resolved yet.
• True: public evidence shows the claim was fulfilled.
• False: public evidence shows the claim was not fulfilled.
• Occurred / Did not occur: the underlying event outcome for an explicit probability forecast; this is not a true/false judgment of its calibration.
• Unresolvable: the claim cannot be checked reliably with available evidence.

Sourced accuracy

An actor's accuracy score includes only definitive binary True or False assessments with at least one structured HTTP(S) evidence link and a consistent recorded timing window. Explicit probability forecasts preserve their stated probability and observed event outcome separately; a single event is not a calibration score and does not affect binary accuracy. Pending, unresolvable, unsupported legacy assessments, and timing conflicts also remain visible without affecting the score. At least five score-eligible sourced binary outcomes are required before accuracy is displayed.
